How To Measure for a Proper-fitting Bra

Finding the perfect bra that fits well and feels comfortable is important for your confidence and everyday comfort.

Step 1 – Measure Your Band Size

Wrap a soft measuring tape snugly around your ribcage, just below your bust. Make sure the tape is parallel to the ground and level all the way around. Take note of the measurement in inches. Round up to the nearest whole number.

Step 2 – Measure Your Bust Size

Next measure around the fullest part of your bust, typically right above the nipple. Keep the measuring tape snug but not tight and parallel to the ground.

Step 3 - Calculate Your Cup Size

To determine your cup size, subtract your band measurement from your bust measurement. Each inch of difference corresponds to a cup size.

Cup size for a double mastectomy would be the same size prior to surgery. If you want to be larger, select the size above. If you want to be smaller, select the size below.

Step 4 – Determine Your Bra Size

To determine your bra size, combine the band size with your cup size. For example, if you have a 38-inch band and a C cup, your bra size is 38C.

Comfort is Key

Ultimately, the most important factor in finding the perfect bra after breast cancer surgery is comfort. Choose bras made from soft, breathable fabrics that feel gentle against your skin. Avoid bras with seams or embellishments that may irritate sensitive scar tissue.

Finding the perfect bra after breast cancer surgery may take some time and patience, but with the right measurements and considerations, you can discover bras that provide support and enhance your natural beauty. Listen to your body and prioritize comfort as you embark on this journey of self-care and healing.
